Prior to the ‘90s, most Chicago renters and homebuyers steered clear of the predominately industrial West Loop. Visitor attraction boosted after the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, was constructed. But it would be years before West Loop Gate would become a popular corporate and residential destination. Today, development and demand for West Loop condos are skyrocketing at an unprecedented pace.

Between a flourishing restaurant scene on Randolph Street, trendy lofts, art galleries, converted warehouses and retail boutiques – the West Loop has it all. Numerous leading corporations are setting up shop here, including McDonald’s, Uber, Google, AT&T and Dyson, helping create a thriving work-live environment where home values are steadily rising. For those who work in River North and the Loop, West Loop’s accessible location makes for an easy walk east – weather permitting. Morgan Station (pink and green lines) was constructed in 2012 to service the influx of new residents in the 60607 and sits centrally at Morgan and Lake. Given the immense popularity and the rise of tech companies setting roots nearby, most people are coming in rather than going out. We should know – Z Chicago’s home base is here!

As the fastest growing neighborhood in Chicago, the West Loop’s amenities seem to increase by the week. Here are a few of our favorite spots:

  • The “well worth the 2 hour wait” burger: Au Cheval
